Our backcountry ski and snowboard school uses qualified ski guides who have years of experience teaching backcountry snowsports skills and safety.
John Horan
John is a Ski Guide with the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association. He also holds a Pro 2 avalanche safey certification from the American Avalanche Association. John has guided in Hokkaido since 2016 with The Powder Project and works with Alpine Guides in New Zealand during the southern winter.
George Loomes
George is an Assistant Ski Guide with the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association and holds an ARM 6 avalanche safety certification from the New Zealand Mountain Safety Council. George has guided in New Zealand with Mount Cook Heliski, Alpine Guides and Alpine Recreation and spent five years on the Aoraki-Mt Cook professional Search and Rescue team.
